Pakistan fast bowler Usman Shinwari stated that there is no pressure of Babar Azam in T20s as he believes that the 28-year-old plays conventional shots in the shorter format.
Shinwari, 29, also admitted that Azam is his favourite player and is the most dangerous batter in the world at this moment in Tests and ODIs.
“My favourite player is Babar Azam, without a doubt. However, I think that Babar is extremely dangerous in ODIs and Tests," Shinwari said in a podcast.
He then went on to analyse Babar’s T20 game and stated that he is not much of a threat because he does not play unorthodox shots.
“In T20s, I won’t feel much pressure against him because he relies on conventional shots, and as a bowler, you don’t expect Babar to slog sweep a good length delivery or play an unorthodox shot out of nowhere for a six.
“For this reason, I won’t feel any danger bowling to him in T20s. But in Tests and ODIs, he remains my favourite batter,” he concluded.
Shinwari played his last T20 for Pakistan against Sri Lanka in 2019 and he has not been a part of the team since then.
He represented Pakistan in a total of 34 matches from 2013 to 2019 and took a total of 48 wickets.
In 2021, he decided to take retirement from Test cricket having only played one Test against Sri Lanka in 2019
